SkillanNaylor Car Company are pleased to offer this gorgeous 1999 MINI Cooper 1.3i Sport 5 seen in Tahiti Blue Metallic with Black Leather upholstery.

In 1997 production of the iconic, classic, original MINI was coming to the end. To celebrate the end of this cars amazing and long running production various special editions were created. These ranged from cars in bright vibrant colours i.e. Rose, Sky and Flame Red to collaborations with equally iconic British designers i.e. Paul Smith. Most of these special editions centred around the aesthetic appearance of the car.

There were also some other special editions of the MINI which took it back to its roots as a giant killing hot-rod. One such car was the MINI Cooper Sport 5. This was a very limited edition model as its believed around only 30 cars were ever produced. The Cooper Sport 5 was built by the MINI's most famous sporting partner and this was John Cooper Garages.

The Cooper Sport 5 received upgrades to the engine in way of a sports exhaust, reworked cylinder head and tweaks to the engine management system. These upgrades lifted the power from 68HP to 86HP. In a car that weighs well under a ton it offers very spritely performance. The biggest change however to the MINI and the reason it is called a Sport 5 is that the car was fitted with a Jack Knight 5-Speed Gearbox. This excellent addition to the specification of the MINI not only gives it longer legs for better cruising ability but the closer ratios also aid the in gear acceleration.

The Cooper Sport 5 now had the go and gearbox to be the best MINI you could buy but it also now looked fantastic too. Wider Sport Pack wheel arches now clothed 13" MINI Lite style alloy wheels and a factory fitted Webesto style sunroof also added to the sporty appeal of the MINI. The interior of the Cooper Sport 5 was also comprehensively upgraded and now includes full black leather upholstery, aluminium dash and door capping and as 3-spoke sports steering wheel which now includes an air-bag.

With good, classic MINIs now becoming harder to find cars like our Cooper Sport 5 will surely only appreciate in value. Having covered just 42,575 miles this is a car you can put in a collection or use on special occasions. With the addition of the Jack Knight 5-Speed gearbox the Cooper Sport 5 is also a car which can be driven more often and over longer distances.
