When you think of the MINI brand it is the classic three door body type that first comes to mind. Depending on your age it will either by the 1959 Sir Alec Issigonis original or the BMW MINI which was relaunched back in 2000.

The MINI 3Dr hatchback remains the brands core car however in the past when people wanted something a bit bigger it usually meant leaving the brand and buying something else.

In 2007 MINI launched the all-New MINI Clubman. If you are familiar with the historic back catalogue of original MINI's this mini estate body style was called a Traveller. The new BMW/MINI brand did not own the rights to reuse this name so choose Clubman which not to confuse you further was originally used by MINI when the facelifted the original 3Dr car with a flat front design.

The all-New MINI Clubman was a stretched version of the 3Dr and had approximately a 50% bigger boot and 50% more rear leg room. To aid access in to the back of the car the MINI Clubman had a unique single door on the off-side of the car that opened backwards aka in a Suicide fashion. This did in deed grant better access to the rear of the car however having only one door that was on the other side to the pavement did throw up a few challenges for the owner. The all-New MINI Clubman did also have one other feature that tied it back to the original cars and that was the twin barn down style opening for the boot area. This was a good if not a little quirky idea as it meant you could keep on door closed and the other open when getting items from the boot.

As mentioned the MINI Clubman was based upon a stretched eversion of the 3Dr hatchback. It was more practical than the 3Dr hatch but not really a competitor to the likes of the VW Golf or Audi A3. To meet the other premium hatchbacks head-on MINI would have to evolve the Clubman to another level.

The generation one MINI Clubman stayed in production until 2014 before it was replaced by a ground-up new car. All BMW/MINI products have a code name. The generation one Clubman was an R55. The all-New generation two is referred to as an F54. The F54 Clubman was based upon a platform that was shared with the New MINI Countryman and also the BMW X1, X2,  2 Series Active Tourer and Grand Tourer. This move of platform to a BMW not only meant that the car was overall larger the quality of the build and technology available was much higher. This move also meant that the body shape could be a little bit more traditional. Most hatchbacks are either 3 or 5 door body styles. The MINI Clubman is referred to as a 6-Door hatchback as it has two forward opening doors on each side and like the gen 1 cars tow barn style opening doors at the rear.

The size of the gen 2 MINI Clubman is close to a BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 Sportback or VW Golf. Its long roof make it look like a mini estate car however its really a hatchback with a different rear door arrangement.

MINI offer the Clubman in a wide range of both petrol and diesel engines and trim levels. This Clubman is a Cooper S model which means it has a 2.0L 4-Cylinder Turbo Petrol engine that develops 190 BHP. In this car it is connected to an 8-Speed Sports Auto Gearbox. To go with different trim levels there are a number of packs also available. The hotter the pack the better the spec. This car benefits from a CHILI pack which is obviously the hottest available.

This MINI Clubman was supplied new on-island by Buchanan MINI and it features a full service history to back up its very low mileage of just 19,541 miles.
