USP - Unique Selling Point. When a car has a USP over other similar cars it should have more appeal. When Mercedes launched the SLK it was the first two seat roadster to feature a folding metal roof. This meant that when the roof was up the SLK just felt like a two seat coupe. The roof can be lowered or raised at the touch of a button and without a clips or clasps to be released.

In 2009 BMW launched the second generation Z4 and this too featured a folding metal roof. Mercedes SLK had lost its USP. How could Mercedes now differentiate the SLK from the Z4? The now unique element of the SLK was its engine range which now included a diesel option. BMW did not off the Z4 with a diesel motor and the Porsche Boxster was also petrol only.

With the Mercedes SLK 250 CDI you got roof down motoring and low running costs. The engine in the SLK 250 CDI is a 2.1L 4-Cylinder Turbo Diesel that develops 204 BHP and 500 Nm torque. This gives the car excellent all round performance & efficiency. 0-62 MPH takes just 6.7 Secs whilst still returning 56 MPG (Combined).

The Mercedes SLK does have another feature that has since been copied by other manufactures of convertible cars and that is its Airscarf system. This feature blows hot air from a vent in the top of the seats and around the neck of the driver & passenger. This creates a warm environment which means that the car can be enjoyed with the roof down on any sunny day throughout the year.

This SLK 250 CDI is presented in excellent condition which backs up its very low mileage of just 18,829 miles. If you are looking for some roof down motoring in a car that won't cost the earth to run look no further.
